Competitive Squads

Kells Swimming Club is a competitive swimming club. Our squad system aims to develop swimmers from the Baby Pool up to National level competitors.

The club has a structured coaching program for swimers of all abilities. Swimmers start with weekly lessons as part of our Learn to Swim Squad progressing to the Competiive Squads. Progressionthrough the squads is based on Squad Progression criteria and is at the discretion of squad coacjes. 

• Blue 1 - this is our top level competitive group competing at regional and national level with an emphasis on performance. 
• Blue 2 - members move from the Development black hat squad to this Blue 2 squad
• Black - our development squad learning to train and compete.  Due to the number of swimmers in this squad it has been divided into 2 groups - Black 1 and Black 2  - with the most experienced swimmers in Black 1.  All swimmers must register with Swim Ireland on joining the Development black hat sqaud and swimmers are expected to compete in galas. 

As swimmers learn new skills, they progress from one squad to another. Movement from squad to squad is determined by the current set of guidelines and is at the discretion of squad coaches.
